Fr Pilarz was a perfect example of a Jesuit priest and someone I will always think of when I remember my alms mater. My wife Patty (‘80) and I graduated well before Fr’s arrival but were fortunate enough to have our daughter Catherine (‘13) attend during his first tenure. I remember a mass at Madonna Della Strada which he celebrated and was the homilist and will always recall my thought at the time: this is why we hoped our daughter would come to Scranton. His legacy of genuine humility accessibility and humanity will forever be at our alma mater. God blessed all who have known him.
