What factors led you to choose Scranton for your master's degree?
During my exploration of several Universities in the NEPA area the reputation and accreditation of the U not only met but surpassed my expectations.
How did you end up choosing School Counseling instead of another counseling specialty area?
At the time I was working in a special education setting which gave me a passion for supporting students' overall well-being and academic success. This motivated me to pursue a role where I could offer guidance and assistance on a broader scale as a school counselor.
What were some of your favorite things about the program?
The program instilled a sense of confidence in my chosen field. The professors, who were not only kind but also exceptionally knowledgeable, played a pivotal role in nurturing my growth. Their unwavering support and guidance created an enriching academic environment, where I felt empowered to explore and excel in my field. The program gave me not only competence but also a deep appreciation for the mentorship provided by the caring and expert faculty.
Fondest program memory?
I always enjoyed the activities that were done with other students such as PACT and Take Back the Night.
What was your impression of the coursework? Clinical Training? Faculty?
Throughout my time in the program, I consistently experienced a sense of preparedness. As I completed the program, I not only carried with a heightened sense of readiness but also confidence in my abilities. The professors in the program consistently exhibit qualities that went beyond mere academic instruction. Their unwavering kindness, constant support, and overall greatness significantly enhanced the learning experience. Rather than just disseminating information, they created an environment where students felt valued and encouraged to explore, question, and excel.
How did the program help to prepare you for your career?
Reflecting on my academic journey, I came to realize that the program not only equipped me with the necessary tools for success but also provided a comprehensive foundation that became evident in the practical application of my education.
