Program Learning Outcomes for KSOM Undergraduate and Graduate Programs

Accounting Ph.D. 

  1. Each student will develop and demonstrate advanced practice-relevant applied research skills.
    1. Each student will be capable of applying appropriate library research tools and techniques for the purpose of conducting applied research that is practice-relevant and advances the applied accounting literature.
    2. Each student will be capable of identifying practice-relevant research questions through an understanding of business literature and will develop a high level of expertise within his/her area of specialization.
    3. Each student will be able to create well designed and theoretically supported constructs and hypotheses to address practice-relevant research questions to advance the applied literature.
    4. Each student will be capable of identifying, executing, and interpreting appropriate applied research methods to investigate and test constructs, hypotheses, and models.
  2. Each student will become aware of ethical dimensions in business and accounting, especially as embodied by the 日本一级片 Ignatian identity and mission to advance the applied literature.
  3. Each student will understand the global environment of academia, including its governance structure, processes, and role in society.
  4. Each student will demonstrate advanced written and oral communication skills consistent with the expectations of an academic career at a teaching oriented institution.
  5. Each student will demonstrate an understanding of relevant pedagogies including course objectives, student learning outcomes, assessment, course management, and proficiency in teaching.

 

DBA Program

  1. Each student will develop and demonstrate advanced practice-relevant applied research skills.

Master in Accountancy Program

  1. Each student will gain extensive knowledge in the field of accounting and understand the manner in which accounting information is generated and disseminated.
    1. Students will research advanced current topics in accounting and demonstrate both theoretical and practical implications.
    2. Students will understand the governing bodies charged with the creation and oversight of the various accounting and auditing standards/practices.
    3. Students will understand how accosting information is generated and used by key stakeholders.
  2. Each student will capable of applying an advanced level of accounting knowledge as a means of solving business problems.
    1. Students will demonstrate an understanding of advanced accounting any proper application to solve meet current reporting requirements.
    2. Students will demonstrate the ability to identify the proper application of accounting information to solve current real word problems commonly faced by key stakeholders.
  3. Each student will be capable of critically analyzing accounting information and utilizing their knowledge of the field to disseminate value-added insights throughout the firm.
    1. Students will analyze business situations and provide value-added insights and recommendations to contribute to the decision making process.
    2. Students will critique business performance of the firm utilizing accounting techniques to provide a foundation for performance improvement.
  4. Each student will be able to effectively identify and evaluate the kinds of ethical challenges often faced by accounting professionals and express their ability to appropriately respond in a manner that is consistent with the profession’s high ethical expectations.
    1. Students will demonstrate a comprehensive level of understanding ethical theory, principles, and rules through direct application to current practical ethical dilemmas.
    2. Students gain an understanding of the high ethical expectation of the profession and how to become more aware of their own behaviors and life choices to better fulfill such expectations.
  5. Each student will understand the global environment of the field of accounting and the critical leadership role (s)he must be able to fulfill within the broader business environment.
    1. Students will analyze the critical role accounting professionals play in the global business environment through analysis of specific management situations.
    2. Students will apply accounting techniques to position the accounting function as a key partner in the firm to capitalize on emerging business opportunities.
  6. Each student will demonstrate the kinds of advanced communication skills that are consistent with the profession’s high demands and expectations.
    1. Students will understand the importance of providing effective communication to key stakeholders within and outside of the firm.
    2. Students will demonstrate a mastery of writing through numerous assignments targeted toward meeting the expectations of various key stakeholders.

 

 MBA Program

  1. Each student will be skilled in recognizing (dealing with) the implications of integrated business processes in managing the enterprise.
    1. Students will analyze ineffective business practices that result from poorly integrated business processes.
    2. Students will formulate sound proposals for improving integrated business processes.
  2. Each student will be ethical, socially responsible, and just when making business decisions.
    1. Students will evaluate business decisions within an ethical framework.
    2. Students will critique business decisions on the basis of social responsibility.
    3. Students will evaluate business decisions with regard to their impacts on environmental sustainability.
  3. Each student will be capable of synthesizing/analyzing information as to make sound business decisions.
    1. Students will apply a systematic approach to solving business problems.
    2. Students will evaluate financial statements and documents to support business decisions.
    3. Students will use appropriate technologies in gathering and analyzing data relevant to managerial decision-making.
