Imagine the Future ...
Over the past several years, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education has been undergoing a transformation nationwide. This revolution is due in part to changing technology, but mostly because traditional pedagogy permitted a passive learning style instead of actively engaging students.
One of the critical elements of our vision is the idea that science is a human endeavor. The most powerful scientific tool at our disposal is the human mind, and building a facility that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration is essential to the spirit of scientific inquiry,
Thus, our science facility features:
- Classrooms that permit group activities and hands-on-learning
- Ample informal learning spaces, which are recognized as being as important as classroom and laboratories
- Teaching and research spaces that are flexible to accommodate changing future needs
- Physical layouts of offices, research laboratories, and common spaces that encourage interdisciplinary interaction and effective intellectual collisions between and among traditional disciplines
